Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The retainer fee secures your spot on Izzy Rue PhoDOGraphy’s calendar and officially kicks off our creative collaboration. It’s not just a deposit—it’s a promise. A promise that I’ll reserve time, prep your custom experience, and begin crafting the playful, paws-itively perfect session you deserve.

This fee ensures I can give your project the attention, planning, and creative energy it needs. It covers pre-session prep, concept development, and all the behind-the-scenes magic that starts long before the shutter clicks.

Since I also work full-time, I currently schedule sessions bi-weekly on Fridays and Saturdays. This may change in the future, but please know I'll always be flexible and do my best to work around your availability!

I understand that life (and pets!) can be unpredictable. If you need to cancel or reschedule your session, I kindly ask for at least 48 hours notice to avoid any cancellation fees.

- Cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance may be rescheduled minus any non-refundable retainer.

- Cancellations made less than 48 hours before your session may result in a new rescheduling fee.

- No-shows or same-day cancellations will be charged the full session fee.

I always do my best to accommodate emergencies and unexpected situations with compassion and flexibility. If something comes up, please reach out—I am here to help.

Please complete the form on my contact page, and I’ll respond within 24 - 48 hours. Based on your request, I'll send over a brief questionnaire to help me better prepare for your session. Once that's completed, we'll follow up to chat about the details and get everything set for your pup’s big moment!

For your dog's optimal experience, I offer two main options: Standard Sessions (typically 45-75 minutes), which allow more time for a variety of shots, and Mini Sessions (typically 15-30 minutes). I cap these session lengths because dogs can lose interest, tire quickly, and begin to show signs of stress if the session is too long. The safety and well-being of your furry friend is always my main priority. Ready to find the perfect fit? Please head over to the Sessions Page to learn more about each package."

For mobile studio sessions, I provide a wide variety of backdrops to choose from. In addition, I offer high-resolution digital backdrops that can bring any scene you envision to life. Some of these digital designs are my own creations, while others come from professional sources through memberships I belong to.

Yes! Sometimes Mother Nature has her own agenda, and I absolutely respect that—as well as your time. If the weather isn’t cooperating, I’ll happily work with you to reschedule and make sure we get those beautiful photos of your pup as soon as possible.

I incorporate a variety of styles in my post-processing, and the final result often depends on several factors from the shoot that day.

I use professional-grade lenses to highlight the natural charm and personality of your furry friend.

I’m always happy to hear your preferences—together, we’ll work to bring your vision to life.

My focus is on subtractive editing and enhancement. This includes removing distracting elements such as:

• Leashes, harness lines, and unwanted background objects.

• Correcting issues like tear stains and noticeable color casting.

The goal is always to preserve the genuine feeling and authenticity of the captured moment. If you have a specific request, I am more than happy to discuss that with you.

For me, hanging out with dogs isn’t just about sit, stay, or shake—it’s all about that instant spark. I’ve picked up some fun little tricks to catch their attention and keep things upbeat. Your pup is most comfortable with you nearby and because I work alone, your presence helps me capture their true personality. Whether you're offering treats, squeaky encouragement, or just being a calming presence, your involvement is not only welcome—it’s key to creating the best possible portraits. This will be discussed further during the planning session.

Getting your pup’s portrait taken might feel a bit weird to them at first, but no stress! I always kick things off by hanging out with your dog, letting them sniff the gear, check out the setup, and just relax. Before you know it, they’re cozy, curious, and ready for their close-up.

I also offer continuous lighting for a calmer experience.

Life happens—and pets don’t always follow a clock! If you’re running late, please let me know as soon as possible. I build in a little buffer time to accommodate minor delays, but extended tardiness may impact the session length or result in a reschedule, especially if lighting or location permits are time-sensitive.

Because each session is carefully planned around your pet’s comfort and travel logistics, arriving on time helps ensure the best possible experience and final images. If a delay shortens our session window, I’ll do my best to adapt creatively while keeping your pet’s wellbeing front and center.

Yes—with a wagging caveat! While Izzy Rue PhoDOGraphy is proudly dog-focused, your pup’s companions are welcome to join the fun. As long as a dog is part of the photo, I'm happy to include their favorite human or fellow furry friend—whether that’s a cat, bunny, or other pet. (See each package for specifics).

Sessions are designed around your dog’s comfort and personality, so any additions should be calm, safe, and well-acquainted with your pup.

Buffer time is a short window built into your appointment—used for setting up gear, getting acquainted with your dog, and creating a relaxed, trust-filled environment before the camera starts clicking. It’s an essential part of how I ensure your pet feels safe, seen, and celebrated.

This time is not deducted from your official session duration. Your booked session begins after we’ve settled in and your dog is comfortable enough to shine.

Whether it’s sniffing the gear, warming up to a new space, or simply getting those wiggles out, buffer time helps us start on the right paw—and ensures the final images reflect your dog’s true personality.
